“Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law” (Romans 3:31). Our faith doesn’t cancel God’s law. Instead, it rightly places the law in its proper role, revealing sin and pointing us to our need for grace.

  • August 5

“Yes, the old requirement about the priesthood was set aside because it was weak and useless. For the law never made anything perfect. But now we have confidence in a better hope, through which we draw near to God” (Hebrews 7:18, 19, NLT). Christ, our “better hope,” replaces the limitations of the law and makes life infinitely more fulfilling. True access to God comes through grace, not religious ritual.

“For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power” (1 Corinthians 15:56, NLT). Sin is the direct cause of death, both spiritually and ultimately physically. This underscores the need for grace beyond the law.

  • August 3

“When we were controlled by our old nature, sinful desires were at work within us, and the law aroused these evil desires that produced a harvest of sinful deeds, resulting in death” (Romans 7:5, NLT). The law that most churches teach exposes and even intensifies awareness of sin in fallen nature. Human effort alone can’t overcome sinful tendencies, which is why we need Jesus every day.

“Until John the Baptist, the law of Moses and the messages of the prophets were your guides. But now the Good News of the Kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is eager to get in” (Luke 16:16, NLT). The gospel opens access broadly and invites everyone to respond. There’s an urgency and an eagerness surrounding God’s kingdom.

“Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel’” (Mark 1:14, 15, NKJV). Countries governed according to God’s Word are prosperous and blessed, but they open themselves up to evil when they turn away and ignore the truth found in the Bible. In these last days we’re seeing clear examples of this.

“To reveal his Son to me so that I would proclaim the Good News about Jesus to the Gentiles. When this happened, I did not rush out to consult with any human being” (Galatians 1:16, NLT). God’s calling always precedes human affirmation, and, in fact, often contradicts it. When we hear from Him, our obedience often requires immediate response without dependence on others’ approval.

“But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God” (Acts 20:24, NLT). We find purpose in fulfilling God’s assignment, not pursuing our own personal comfort. Jesus’ Gospel of Grace is central to our mission as believers.

  • July 29

“And so you cancel the word of God in order to hand down your own tradition. And this is only one example among many others” (Mark 7:13, NLT). Human traditions can override and nullify God’s truth if we accept them blindly without examining them carefully. He therefore warns us against elevating culture or habit above Scripture.

“For the same God who worked through Peter as the apostle to the Jews also worked through me as the apostle to the Gentiles. In fact, James, Peter, and John, who were known as pillars of the church, recognized the gift God had given me, and they accepted Barnabas and me as their co-workers. They encouraged us to keep preaching to the Gentiles, while they continued their work with the Jews” (Galatians 2:8, 9, NLT). God assigns different roles and callings, but all are equally important in His purpose. Unity in the body of Christ doesn’t require identical assignments; diversity of mission can still produce harmony.

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed” (2 Corinthians 4:8, 9).

We all feel discouraged occasionally, but having a biblical perspective on this emotion helps us maintain our authority over it. Even the apostle Paul felt it from time to time.

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness” (Isaiah 41:10).

As God’s children, we never have to let fear rule our lives. When it shows up, His strength gives us the power to overcome it. His hand holding us up gives us supernatural support.

Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar (Proverbs 30:5, 6, NKJV).

God’s Word is true; obeying it brings eternal life. We’re strictly warned against adding to, taking away from, or changing anything in the Scriptures to suit ourselves.

The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe (Proverbs 29:25, NKJV).

Being overly concerned with what others think of us or fearful of what someone may do to us makes us miserable; this is a worldly mindset. Letting go of this fear and trusting what God says gives us true safety and peace of mind.

A fool vents all his feelings, but a wise man holds them back (Proverbs 29:11, NKJV).

It’s unwise to speak without thinking, criticize others with a sharp tongue, or talk endlessly without saying anything. Words are powerful weapons; part of godly wisdom is knowing when to keep silent.
