- September 25
“You were running the race so well. Who has held you back from following the truth?” (Galatians 5:7, NLT). The Galatians had been making strong spiritual progress until someone persuaded them to turn away from the truth of the gospel. This passage reminds us to guard our hearts against any message that shifts our confidence from Christ’s finished works to our own performance; staying rooted in grace keeps us moving forward in faith.

“Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth” (2 Timothy 3:7). Knowledge alone isn’t enough if it never results in embracing the truth of the gospel; a person can continually accumulate information while remaining spiritually unchanged. Genuine growth occurs when God's truth moves from the mind into the heart and transforms the way we think and live.

“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:21, NLT). Jesus took upon Himself what belonged to us so that we could receive what belongs to Him—right standing with God. Our righteousness isn’t based on our performance but on our union with Christ.

“And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death” (Exodus 19:12). The Mosaic Law resulted in awe of God but also a strictly enforced distance from Him. In contrast, through Jesus Christ, believers now have confident access to God because His finished works removed the barrier that once separated humanity from Him.

“And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed” (Romans 13:11). Time has a spiritual urgency, and believers must live with a sense of expectation. Every day brings us closer to the full realization of our salvation; therefore, complacency has no place in the life of faith.

“And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel” (Mark 1:15). Repentance is more than feeling sorry for sin—it’s a change of mind that leads us to place our trust in Christ. When our thinking changes, our lives begin to reflect the reality of God’s kingdom.

“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death” (Romans 8:1, 2, NLT). The freedom that God’s grace offers us isn’t something we strive to earn, but something we receive by faith. Living with this understanding empowers us to walk boldly in the liberty Christ has provided.

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect” (Romans 12:2, NLT). God changes our lives by first changing the way we think, enabling us to reject the world's patterns and embrace His truth. Aligning our thinking with His Word better equips us to recognize His will and experience the peace and wisdom that come from walking in it.

“Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes” (Ephesians 1:4, NLT). God's plan for our lives began long before we were ever born. He chose us in Christ based on His love and grace, not on our works or qualifications.

“So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while” (1 Peter 1 6, NLT). Life brings us more than our share of trials; suffering doesn’t negate God's promises but becomes part of the process through which faith is strengthened and refined. We can endure hardships with confidence because our ultimate hope rests in God's eternal salvation.

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” (Hebrews 4:16, NIV).
Religion tells us to be meek and timid in God’s presence, but the Scriptures tell us the exact opposite. Believers have been made righteous and holy through Jesus; because we’re the righteousness of God, we have a level of confidence the world doesn’t have.

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves” (James 1:22).
What we speak certainly is important, but our actions show the world whether or not we really believe what we say. Those professing to be Christians must be careful that their behavior demonstrates their belief and reflects God’s teachings.
September 2
“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers” (Ephesians 4:29).
Words are powerful; as believers, we must realize the authority of what we say. We can bring good or evil to pass, depending on what comes out of our mouth. Our words should therefore line up with God’s Word.
September 1
“Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour” (Ephesians 5:1, 2).
If we’re to demonstrate God’s love to the world in the same manner as Jesus did, we must be willing to take action and let God order our steps in our Christian walk. Following God goes beyond simply trusting what we think intellectually or feel emotionally is right; it involves studying His Word and letting the Holy Spirit reveal the way we should go.
August 31
“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ” (Ephesians 2:13, NKJV).
In the Old Testament, the people were far from God; even touching the mountain where He lived meant certain death. Now, we can confidently come into His presence because of the blood Jesus shed on the cross.
August 30
“Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing” (1 Peter 3:8, 9, NIV).
Letting the Holy Spirit guide our every thought unites us, according to the will of God. His plan is for us to act toward others as Jesus did toward those He came in contact with during His earthly ministry. Behaving like this supernaturally opens the door to God’s blessings in our lives.
August 29
“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24).
True joy—the kind that’s so deep, so high, so wide, and so all-encompassing that it permeates our very being—comes from God. When we reach that point on our Christian walk where we feel it resonate through us, we’ll know it comes directly from Him. His plan is for us to be happy and glad-hearted in Him.
August 28
“Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, rejoice” (Philippians 4:4).
When we think about all the good things God has done for us and all the miracles He continues to work in our lives, we can’t help but rejoice and give thanks for His mercy and love. Having glad and thankful hearts is one indication that we’re beginning to exhibit the spiritual fruit that God wants for us.
August 27
“It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption” (1 Corinthians 1:30, NIV).
All good gifts come from God, including grace, who came to us in the form of Jesus Christ. When we’re in relationship with Christ, we receive the same qualities as He has. This includes His wisdom, righteousness, holiness, and right-standing with God.
