“Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God” (2 Corinthians 3:5, NKJV).

Our ability is based on God. We are not qualified to do anything according to our own abilities. Whatever we need comes from Jesus.

“And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither. And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the Lord said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he” (1 Samuel 16:11, 12).

When God shows favor toward us, it doesn’t matter where we are; His favor proactively seeks us out and finds us. When our heart is turned toward God, it doesn’t matter to Him if the world thinks others are more qualified. He sees things hidden to others.

“Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king's chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her” (Esther 2:15).

Favor comes from God, not from anything we do. When God shows favor to us, it will be readily apparent to everyone around us.

“Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23, NKJV).

We may not always be in control of our circumstances, but we are always in control of our hearts. When we encounter trouble, we must choose not to allow the circumstances to determine what we believe.

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me” (John 14:1).

We have authority over our emotions and this authority springs from the Word of God. When we feel fear, depression, or any other negative emotions trying to make their presence known, trusting in what Jesus says to us gives us supernatural power to defeat them.
