- September 24
“Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth” (2 Timothy 3:7). Knowledge alone isn’t enough if it never results in embracing the truth of the gospel; a person can continually accumulate information while remaining spiritually unchanged. Genuine growth occurs when God's truth moves from the mind into the heart and transforms the way we think and live.

“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:21, NLT). Jesus took upon Himself what belonged to us so that we could receive what belongs to Him—right standing with God. Our righteousness isn’t based on our performance but on our union with Christ.

“And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death” (Exodus 19:12). The Mosaic Law resulted in awe of God but also a strictly enforced distance from Him. In contrast, through Jesus Christ, believers now have confident access to God because His finished works removed the barrier that once separated humanity from Him.

“And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed” (Romans 13:11). Time has a spiritual urgency, and believers must live with a sense of expectation. Every day brings us closer to the full realization of our salvation; therefore, complacency has no place in the life of faith.

“And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel” (Mark 1:15). Repentance is more than feeling sorry for sin—it’s a change of mind that leads us to place our trust in Christ. When our thinking changes, our lives begin to reflect the reality of God’s kingdom.

“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death” (Romans 8:1, 2, NLT). The freedom that God’s grace offers us isn’t something we strive to earn, but something we receive by faith. Living with this understanding empowers us to walk boldly in the liberty Christ has provided.

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect” (Romans 12:2, NLT). God changes our lives by first changing the way we think, enabling us to reject the world's patterns and embrace His truth. Aligning our thinking with His Word better equips us to recognize His will and experience the peace and wisdom that come from walking in it.

“Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes” (Ephesians 1:4, NLT). God's plan for our lives began long before we were ever born. He chose us in Christ based on His love and grace, not on our works or qualifications.

“So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while” (1 Peter 1 6, NLT). Life brings us more than our share of trials; suffering doesn’t negate God's promises but becomes part of the process through which faith is strengthened and refined. We can endure hardships with confidence because our ultimate hope rests in God's eternal salvation.

“God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant” (Romans 5:20, NLT). This highlights both the seriousness of sin and the surpassing greatness of God's mercy. Instead of leaving us condemned because of our sins, He responds to our need with an overflowing supply of grace through Jesus Christ.

August 8
“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good” (1 Peter 2:2, 3, NIV).
Spiritually, God’s Word feeds and sustains us and gives us life. When we’re new Christians, we need to learn the basics of living in Him and becoming accustomed to our newfound righteousness. However, once we outgrow milk and begin maturing in Christ, we can move on to the meat of His Word.
August 7
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” (Ephesians 6:10, 11).
We mustn’t be deceived—we’re in a spiritual battle with an enemy who will use anything at his disposal to defeat and kill us. We put on the armor of God when we live His Word and let the Holy Spirit direct and guide us in everything.
August 6
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Through Jesus, our true identity is established. When He lives in us and we live in Him, we’re righteous in God’s eyes.
August 5
“For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace” (Romans 6:14).
God’s grace is something we don’t have to earn; we receive it even when we don’t deserve it. It frees the believer from having to follow endless rules and regulations like the people did under the Law of Moses.
August 4
“If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?” (Luke 16:11).
God sees money differently than the world, and He wants to teach us how to put it in its proper perspective. Money is just a tool to bless others; having a thankful heart toward Him makes it easy to give. The real riches are in heaven, not on earth.
August 2
“To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27).
The world lusts after riches and wealth, but its definition of wealth is limited solely to money. God has no limits, and His riches are vast and limitless.
August 1
“There is a way which seems right to a man and appears straight before him, but at the end of it is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12, AMPC).
Trying to direct our own lives and make our own decisions apart from God’s guidance can bog us down hopelessly; what we think is right for us might not necessarily line up with His plans for us. God has the big picture of everything going on around us that affects us; He knows exactly which way we should go.
July 31
“Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh” (Hebrews 10:19, 20).
Under the old covenant, sinful man could not approach God; only the priests were allowed to approach Him through the holiest of holies. Jesus’ blood removed the separation between God and man, so that we can now boldly come before Him without fear.
July 30
“And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission” (Hebrews 9:22).
Under the law, the priests had to make animal blood sacrifices each year to cover the people’s sins. Jesus took it to another level when He sacrificed Himself; this doesn’t just temporarily cover our sins, but washes them away completely.
